The Fast Walkthrough - Part One

Targets:

1.1 Lahan Village
- If you have your PSX plugged into a stereo device of any kind, select Wide-Stereo under sound, the game will sound quite a bit nicer. If you have only one audio plug connected, or a mono setup, then select mono.
- Select "New Game".
- Movie Time.
- You can do all kinds of stuff in Lahan, but little is necessary to get you onto the next segment. But don't rush ahead too fast, this game does not let you backtrack very much, and Lahan is no exception. Check Fei's bed for 200G, and the barrels in the west room for some Aquasol. Look at the lovely oil paintings, and talk to the maid in the opposite room... all with the X button. Try to get the hang of running around by holding down the O button, and jumping with triangle. is the menu button. Mess around with the L1 and R1 buttons to rotate the viewpoint. When you're done playing, head upstairs and talk to everyone. (the policy you should adhere to for the whole game!) Try to leave.
- Jump into the well again and again for a few good items and some horrid puns.
- Be careful when talking to Lucca (from Chrono Trigger) in the Village Consultant's house, as she will explain Save Points, then take your money.
- In one of the houses, you'll find a poor woman's husband who is addicted to Rock, Paper, Scissors. Beat him five times in a row (at 50G per game!!), and he'll give you the RPS badge. Why? Well if you want the Chu-Chu on top of the lamp in Shevat about forty-five hours from now to give you the Power Ring S and an A Charger, you will need the three mini-game badges. Don't worry about it too much, I didn't miss the games too badly my first time through.
- Get lots of Hob-Jerky and Aquasol! The woman with the cow will give you some Aquasol if you're understanding to her. Hob-Jerky is a non-battle item that will slightly replenish your HP. Aquasol is more expensive, but works in battles. Save it.
- Talk to Dan... tell him you'll help him, it's cooler that way. Talk to his sister Alice. Cry. Go on the errand...

1.2 Mountain Path
- Explore. Find stuff. Read the signs. Get some Aquasol up above the entrance to Lahan.
- The enemies shouldn't give you too much trouble. If your HP drops below 15, heal. If you're caught like this in a battle, select 'Item' then 'Aquasol'. Use it on yourself. Outside battle, stick with the Hob-Jerky.
- For the big jump, run with O and push triangle at the critical moment to go airborne. Get used to it... hehe
- Suprise, suprise! The bridge doesn't fall on you! This really is an anti-FFVII game! =)
- The trees rustle when you jump through them! Nice touch!
- When you reach the good doctors yard, read both sides of the sign. Very clever, Citan.
- Get some Aquasol in the closet thingy (Citan refers to it as the storeroom) on the landing of the outside steps. And while you're up there, go up top and look through the telescope. The game locations you'll see in it are Lahan, Blackmoon Forest, and Dazil. Where to go, eh?
- Just basically run and play. Have fun... while you can. Enjoy the bright, cheery music. Enter the house through the bottom floor and talk to Yui and Midori. The Doc is over in the adjacent shed.
- "Intervention strategy"? I won't ruin the game for you, but playing through this game again really makes you notice how much Citan really knows about things. Be sure to pay close attention to what he says. Go inside the shed anyway.
- Touch the tall yellow box, and pay attention.
- On your way back to Lahan, there will be no enemy encounters, so don't worry. Cross the bridge...

1.3 Fallen Shadows
- Work your way back to Lahan.
- Movie time.
- Don't waste time, just bash the enemy with X.
- Movie time.
- Leave and don't look back...

1.4 Into the Woods
- Go west into the forest. When letters come up saying 'Blackmoon Forest', press X to go inside.
- Go sort of southwards. See that small rock in between the huge boulder and the wall there? Jump on it. Then you'll have to sort of dash (like you have a lot of room to do so) and jump onto the first step carved into the huge boulder. Another reason to get used to running all the time.
- When you get into scraps with the funny shelled critters (Armor Grubs), don't bother trying to attack with your fists, use Guided Shot, a Chi ability that costs a mere 2 EP (Ether Points). Chose Chi on the Battle Menu (it's up top) and select that spell. Target the armor grubs. 50 points! Yeahh! Bye-bye! So let this be a lesson. Certain enemies are well defended against physical attacks, but magic can blow them out of the water. The opposite can also be true.
- I don't want to defeat the whole feeling of exploration here, so make sure you run around and enjoy the forest. Don't be afraid of running into enemies, you gain XP (Experience Points) and new DeathBlows that way!
- Head west on the log. See the part where it crosses another log below? Head SW to get the Aquasol (yipee skip). Line up the view so that the SW/NE log goes straight up and down on the screen so you don't fall off too soon.
- Keep doing triangle X so you learn it! You should have use of 4 ap by now.
- Head south at the end of the 'main' log to find a memory cube! (And *whenever* you see one of these things, save!!) And over to the north there is another log with a Hob-Gob sitting in front of a boulder. Kill the Hob-Gob (go up and press X to begin the battle), and the boulder will begin to roll towards you. It does fairly extensive damage, so get back out of the way to the south. When it clears, go west.
- Movie time.
- "I have orders to kill all land dwellers, -Lambs-, I come in contact with. It's part of my mission. It's nothing personal."?? hehe she sure sounds nice!
- MYSTERIOUS WOMAN: How do you get out of the forest?
FEI: Ask Will, he's the one writing this walkthrough!
- 'Elly'? How did he know her name?
- Crush the elves, they shouldn't be too much trouble.
- Movie time.

1.5 Girl in Forest
- Yay! Elly joined your party!
- The clearing is easy enough to navigate. Head south to the bluffs to climb up and out. But before you do, run around and between them to the SW to find some Aquasol. By the way, this kind of hand-holding will soon come to an end.
- Do some strategic planning on the forset elves. Let Fei do triangle X then have Elly finish it off with X instead of having her start on a new monster at full HP. Don't just blindly attack.
- You should be getting Fei's Raijin DeathBlow around now. (To see it and other DeathBlows, go to your menu (), then to Status > Skills. Press L1/R1 to cycle through your party members.)
- You get a survival tent! Use at any save point or on the world map. Restores all patry members to full HP and cures all conditions. And they are expensive. Don't waste one here.
- Step off the end of the bridge and fight another easy battle.
- "Them! Them! Them!" Very articulate, Fei. =)
- Movie time.
- Ouch... looks like trouble...

1.6 Broken Silence
- (A blood-curling scream from Elly.)
- Follow Elly to where she went.
- The Rankar Dragon, for all it's looks, is fairly easy. Just keep triangle X'ing it and you'll kill it in three hours flat! =)
- Hehe, seriously, Citan will show up with Weltall so you can finish him off. You can also do a level one combo! So X to 'save up' and then triangle triangle for the combo. Then X, then triangle triangle, you get the general idea.
- You can't do too much about the 'slow' condition he'll cast on you. I think Square did that so you wouldn't overwhelm the Rankar with your recovery speed between turns.
- Beat it and watch a great story bit.
- Citan, don't send her away! =( Don't worry, you'll meet up with her again five or ten hours from now... hehe
- CITAN: The same as Fei?
  ELLY: No, nothing. Nevermind...

1.7 Dazil
- Where is the certain place Yui took the villagers?
- If you play like I do, you might have Elly's 'Screamer' and Citan's 'Ukigumo' by now.
- Exit to the west.
- Woah!! Some battleship!!
- Citan is far more powerful than you. He is faster, has a higher HP total, does more damage...
- See that walled town west of here? That's Dazil!
- I don't say this often, but try NOT to get into scraps here. The desert enemies will wear you down quickly.
- The Ethos workshop is in the south part of town. You likely entered on the opposite side. Talk to everyone, take your time. Always talk to everyone!
- There really isn't anything worth buying in Dazil except staples like Hob-Jerky and Aquasol if you need them. If your money is burning a hole in your pocket, pick up some Rosesol. It restores your EP by 10 and if you run out of EP in battle you might be glad to have it. But it's too expensive to be worth it.
- If you want to see Big Joe, go to the Inn NOW.
- Go back to the north side of town and touch the Buggy sitting outside the building. Go inside that building and talk to the guy in the corner who will rent it to you.
- Stay at the Inn if you haven't already. Your HP and EP will be refilled for a scanty 10G.
- Leave. Save outside Dazil, then walk into the empty desert.
- Follow those gears (straight ahead). Don't press L1/R1, you'll get totally lost as there is no compass.
- Watch out for the sand sharks. They're strong on ether defense too.
- As you hit the second screen, it will get darker out.
- Follow the gears again. Head NE, then NE again.
- Try to keep your HP up. (I hope you saved on the world map...)
- Now it's getting really dark.
- Uh-oh, you're surrounded!
- Minor continuity issue: Weltall is a martial-arts type gear. As such, it has no guns. Only Billy's gear handles firearms.
- X, triangle triangle, X, triangle triangle... you know the drill.
- Movie time.
- Enter Wyrm. He's kinda tough... and he drains fuel. You will need to use your level one combos over and over again to kill him. And since he's impervious to regular attacks, save fuel and use triangle instead of and X. So that's triangle, combo (triangle triangle or triangle if you've been fighting a lot beforehand), triangle, et cetera. If you should run out of fuel, try using your Ether Machine attacks (which consume EP instead of gear fuel).

1.8 Desert Attack!
- Wow. Now you're in a jam.
- Movie time.
- Save as soon as you can, then talk to Citan again. Say 'let's talk more' until he won't talk. Then save, then rest...
- Vocabulary: Gazel
- Neat sub, eh? Yeah baby!!
- I know it seems like the way you DON'T want to go, but head west to the sinking side of the vessel. You'll drop down into the Engineering section. Be quick! (Though Citan says something about a switch, I've never been able to find the durn thing.)
- In Engineering you can get: - Watch out for fire damage during fights. Well, at least it hurts the ememies too.
- Don't dwadle in the Engine Room, for it will start to fall apart making escape difficult. Climb the ladder to the NE on the catwalk to get out.
- And climb out the SW corner of the next room! (Do NOT miss the memory cube! The next bit is tricky and you may want to re-load your game instead of playing through the whole ship again.)
- The crane bit is tricky, like I said. =) Orient the scree so the top edge points due south. This way you can see better and walk much straighter relative to the crane. Jump on and work your way up. The penalty for falling off is fairly serious time-wise and time is something you don't have here. Switch from the left to right sides to avoid the bent panels pointing straight up. Walk out all the way to the very tippy-top and you'll board Weltall.
- Uh-oh. Now the 'Pirates' are mad at you... and they think you're Aveh soliders!
- Kick the Young Master's rear and something will happen... eeps.
- Yes, YOU get to find the way out... or cheat and get directions from me in the next section... hehe =)
- What is about to happen?
