The HRM Logistics Committee consists of 17 members, many of whom are HRM staff that have been seconded for the event. The committee, chaired by volunteer Robert Stapells, has been working together for two years. It includes representation from such organizations as police, fire, emergency services, Metro Transit, etc.

Tall Ships Nova Scotia (TSNS) is pleased to announce that 113 tall ships from around the world have already confirmed their intent to visit Halifax as participants in Tall Ships 2000. This announcement was made today in conjunction with a Tall Ships 2000 Volunteer Appreciation Party. TSNS also announced that Tall Ships 2000 will not only be the single largest tourism event in the history of Nova Scotia, but one of the largest volunteer efforts ever organized for a special event.

July 20th will mark one year before the first Tall Ship is expected to arrive in Halifax for Tall Ships 2000, Canada's millennium flagship event. To mark this day, Tall Ships Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that the first sponsor of the Adopt-A-Ship Program has come on-board, matching a historical landmark with one of the noblest tall ships in the fleet.

The first Tall Ships Nova Scotia Volunteer meeting will be held on Saturday, May 8, 1999 at Saint Mary's University, located at 923 Robie St., Halifax, NS. The meeting agenda includes an overview of the Tall Ships 2000 race and shore events. The presentation will take place from 10:00am -12:00pm in Room 160, located on the 1st floor of the new Sobey Building. RSVP: (902) 491-2523.

Tall Ships Nova Scotia officially launched Canada's premiere millennium event today. The Hon. Alan R. Abraham, Chairman of Tall Ships Nova Scotia, unveiled plans for Tall Ships 2000, a festival that will see the largest gathering of Tall Ships ever assembled in Canada in July of the year 2000.
