PS16 - Licence Plates III
(All photos by William Matheson)

My goal with this is to ultimately have one grand page of licence plate photos - 63 photos, to be exact, one from each US State (50), Canadian Province (10), and Canadian Territory (3 - I might have trouble with Nunavut, though!). But here's what I've been finding in the meantime:

*Alaska (motorcycle)
*Arizona (apportioned)
California
*Colorado (recreational truck, trailer)
Connecticut
Florida (Challenger)
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Maine (conservation, semi-permanent)
Manitoba
Maryland
Massachusetts (old)
Michigan (mother)
Missouri (trailer)
New Brunswick (conservation)
New Hampshire (conservation)
*Newfoundland and Labrador (Cabot, 1968 non-authentic)
Northwest Territories
*Nova Scotia (conservation, motorcycle, old-plate firefighter)
Ohio (bicentennial)
Ontario (conservation, motorcycle)
Pennsylvania
Prince Edward Island (dealer, Anne-plate firefighter, Bridge-plate firefighter, Bridge-plate personalized, blank-plate personalized, old)
Québec (motorcycle)
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Texas (old-plate truck)
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
West Virginia
Wisconsin

* - Means I have here the specialty or non-authentic plate indicated, but not the regular, authentic plate.

Seen in Caribou, NS (!!). I hope the seat's comfy.

Bah. Imagine thinking enough about some stupid university to save your sticker-based parking permits. But look at the years involved: 78 and 80. So that's two years out of three or four - I bet you this person didn't even graduate! =)

I'm proud that you're proud, really.

She just loves scrapbooking? No, I believe this is a specialty plate just for (minivan) mothers. What a neat idea!

From the Wal-Mart parking lot in Bayer's Lake. It's a great place to look for far-off plates, since they let trailers park in the lot for free.

This non-authentic plate is a reminder of the bygone days when provinces would issue everyone a new plate every year, as opposed to just a new sticker.

It took a while, but I finally found one! Ironically, I always see them in the summer (well, I've only seen two authentic ones to date (vanity plates with 000 or 2 COLD are everywhere), but you know) - you'd think I'd be seeing them in the winter, desparate to get away, right?

That's an apropos personalization. The best one in this province, though, is a Toyota Matrix, licence plate: "THE ONE." =) I would have photographed that for sure, but I saw it from a moving bus at night. Upon mentioning it to a fellow passenger, I was told about a white Volkswagen Rabbit, licence plate: "IM LATE."

Well, there's a total mark for PEI.

I find these blank white plates rather elegant.

Bottom right: An extremely common bumper sticker, and there is a story!
