No inflatables! That would make our job irrelevant!

(Actually, the real reason is probably that it's easy to fall asleep by the shore on an inflatable and wake up in the open water, creating unnecessary headaches for the lifeguards. This once happened to me. But the truth, as always, isn't as funny.)

Charlotte, a lifeguard herself (though not at this beach) ready to jump in.

And then, she was gone. It's very difficult to time shots with a digital camera.

Some kids were having fun with boogie boards. There's little surfing on PEI, so you have to make do with flat-water-skimming. See a video.

Oh, look at those beau- I mean, that beautiful yellow ball! Wow!

Ah! There's the ball again!

Ah, the kids are writing in the sand.

Apparently one of them likes making political comments.

The ferry to the Magdalen Islands.

Oh, I love that twirly thing.

Okay, so now there are dangerous currents. But no lifeguard!

After a few hundred pictures, I finally noticed the smudge on the camera lens and wiped it off. Those people are my cousins Lindsay, Christina, and Elizabeth.
