PS16 - Annandale
(All photos by William Matheson)
The wharf on the Annandale waterfront. It's built with the Georgetown
design philosophy of "drive too far, end up in the drink."
Parking problems in downtown Annandale.
Like many coastal Island cities, Annandale is not serviced by the cable
company.
"The Blue House." Why, of course: civic addresses are not necessary
here! I can imagine how easy things were for the Purolator men and women
in days of yore: "Ship to: Jon Doe, The Blue House, Annandale P.E.I.*"
* - Not the modern, elegant, proper postal abbreviation: PE. Also, stop using PQ for Québec (QC) and NF for Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). For a complete list, go here (and yell at them for forgetting Prince Edward Island).
One thing the 911-inspired signage has brought to PEI is a generous
definition of "street."
The wharf, seen from downtown Annandale.
The suburbs. Oh, those crazy suburbanites!
I was looking for a boat named "Shirley Mae," for there was said to
be one down here, but I didn't see it that day.
Some Great Blue Herons. They're always too far away to photograph.
This one power line supplies all the power for the entire city.
This is the lighthouse that keeps the great container ships headed
to Georgetown from losing their way.
View of the city from the outskirts. It looks so pretty outside of
rush hour.
