PS7 - Mill Trip

During one of our gatherings at Grand Aunt Pearl's, Malcolm got the idea that we walk down to Lyman's Mill on the Boughton River near Bridgetown. Now, it should be said that the mill does not actually exist anymore, although it was standing when I was four years old. That was a long time ago, however.

This is the Weatherby Road - we take a left at the bottom.

We found this neat bug on the road.

They look at the bug. The dog's name is Sophie, and she belongs to the family of the man in the red shirt (my cousin Nigel).

We're now down by the river. Believe it or not, this is a provincial road, though only suitable for snowmobiles.

Yep, that's a big hunk of metal lying there in the muck.

I decided my feet needed a soaking too, so I got in the river. Don't tell Souris High (they own the camera). I was careful, anyway.

This is Lyman Ross' (my late first cousin twice removed) house. I remember back when Malcolm was saying all this place needed was "a coat of paint," but apparently he never got around to the painting yet. I wonder how many carpenter ants live here.

While I was concerned that the house would come down with us in it, the girls decided that they wanted to scare someone. Oh, had I only used the flash, this photo would have been a classic for the ages. First they startled me a little (I was kind of expecting it, coming up the stairs), then they got Muriel (the woman second from the left). From left to right: Charlotte, Muriel, Elizabeth (you can just see her hand there), Lindsay, Christina, Kari. The dreaded "DISK FULL" flashed in my face after this was taken.
